Change in Prep Leadership Team
The following message from Principal Sam McKinney was shared with Prep families on Monday, Jan. 3, 2022:
Dear UCC Community,
I’m writing to share that Tanya Sweeney has resigned as Head of the Preparatory School. Earlier this fall, Tanya shared news within our community that she will become a parent this February. At the beginning of the winter break, Tanya advised me of her decision to depart her role at UCC to focus on her new family.
In preparation for her departure, Tanya closed out her Prep responsibilities over the holiday period. She shared the news with Prep employees this morning and she is planning to join the Primary and Middle Assemblies this week to meet with our students to exchange Prep memories and wish them well on their UCC learning journeys.
I want to thank Tanya for her leadership, dedication to our students, positive relationships with families, and her unwavering commitment to the College.
The recruitment for a new Head of the Prep will be led by Caldwell Partners. We anticipate that the process will be completed by early spring and a new Head in place for July 2022. In the interim, David Girard and Gareth Evans, valued members of our Prep Leadership Team, will oversee daily operations at the Prep. David and Gareth are well-known to students, families and faculty and staff, and together have nearly 40 years at the Prep — we are in good hands and I look forward to continuing to work with both and supporting our Prep students.
Please join me in wishing Tanya all the best as she begins her new adventure.
