Boarder overnight trip to Norval
Year 2 boarders would like to sincerely thank Sean Kelly for an action-packed weekend at Norval on Feb. 25 to 26. We were blessed with great weather and Mr. Kelly had the boys outside taking full advantage of a great site and situation. Dinner on Saturday and breakfast on Sunday morning were cooked by the boys on the outdoor grill. They chopped and sawed the wood to create a good cooking fire and tended to the delicacies that were to be consumed. No doubt, all the work preparing fires and food heightened the boys’ appetite.
On Saturday evening the boys spent time playing Crokinole and a card game called “Broken Telephone” in the solar energy hut. A good fire in the stove kept the cabin warm and the laughter shared amongst the boys made everyone forget about cell phones for a few hours. At about 11 p.m. the boys retired to their shelter for the evening. On the Norval campus there is a well-constructed tent, complete with a wood-burning stove that easily housed all the boys; thanks again to Mr. Kelly for stoking the fire at about 4 a.m. to make sure the tent remained warm.
On Sunday, following a great pancake breakfast complete with syrup made from sap tapped from the trees at Norval, the boys engaged in co-operative low-ropes games. The excursion proved to be a great team building experience for the boys and a wonderful opportunity to take advantage of a beautiful piece of property at the Norval campus. Thanks again to Mr. Kelly for helping create such wonderful winter memories.
