Art lovers: get set for Nuit Bleue on April 9
Spring at UCC means Nuit Bleue, the spring arts festival. UCC’s brightest night of the year for the arts takes place on Thursday, April 9 and promises to be the biggest, bluest celebration yet.
The festivities start right after school when the students wage a “Battle of the Bands” in Laidlaw Hall. Then the magic begins.
Walking down the hallways, you’ll find a school transformed into an art gallery full of masterpieces, and classrooms into intimate cinemas, screening captivating films. You’ll experience engaging theatrical performances, awe-inspiring stage fights and a lighting display illuminating the quad in blue.
But that’s not all. Pull up a seat at Les Deux Magots Parisien Café and enjoy coffee and a snack that inspires a celebration of the language arts. New this year is a publication called The Blue Caller, a collection of some of the boys’ best literary works. Pick up a copy and immerse yourself in the magic of their words. In addition, Bleue Zone returns this year as a popular student lounge with a live DJ.
You’ll also have the rare opportunity to feel the excitement that happens behind the closed doors at the Model UN and hear the student presentations by the UCC debating and Ontario Model Parliament clubs. Take the opportunity to challenge some of our prize winning debaters.
The evening will culminate with an incredible music concert featuring all Upper School music ensembles. The senior jazz band will close the evening with a performance you won’t want to miss.
Greg’s Ice Cream has been generously donated for all to enjoy and make sure you buy a ticket to the Nuit Bleue Raffle with some amazing prizes.
Nuit Bleue celebrates all that’s wonderful about UCC arts on one special night. It gives students the opportunity to showcase their work and bask in the light of appreciation.
