Applying to Waterloo engineering? Be sure to complete the online video interview!
This year, Waterloo engineering is adding an optional online video interview component to the admissions process. You will be asked questions, given prep time, and allotted a set amount of time to respond. It should only take 20 to 30 minutes to complete and can be done on your own time. The system allows for unlimited practice sessions but once you start the formal interview questions you only get one chance – this allows us to see your candid responses. There are 3 questions, two requiring verbal responses and one with a written (keyboard) response. You will have to type in your Waterloo ID number (to ensure there are no mistakes in awarding points to the right person).
This video interview gives Waterloo the opportunity to virtually meet you and get a sense of who you are, which is helpful in determining admissibility as the applicant pool becomes increasingly more competitive. The best way to do well is to be yourself and answer all questions honestly. Think of this video interview as great practice for all of the co-op interviews you’ll be part of, should you become a Waterloo Engineering student.
