A UCC and BSS inaugural production | The Birthday Party Radio Play
This year’s Senior UCC/BSS collaborative theatre production is Harold Pinter’s The Birthday Party (1959), which takes place over the course of a few days in a ramshackle boarding house in an unnamed English seaside town. Here, the fragile living arrangement of managers – Meg and Petey Boles (Sophie Barnes and Elliot Ingram) – and their mysterious long-term guest – Stanley Webber (Emiliano Gonzalez Carranza) – is upended with the arrival of two ominous strangers (Abigail Peckford and Richard Sutton). Joined by the unguarded Lulu (Lauren Padfield), this menagerie descends into chaos, exposing absurdities and uncertainty at every turn.
Please tune in and become part of a first-of-its-kind production at the College: a Radio Drama that relies exclusively on dialogue, music and sound effects to deliver the story. Act One and Actor Interviews will open on April 8 during Nuit Blue and circulate on The Blue and White webpage. Acts Two and Three will follow on April 19.
Directed by Julian Bauld and Gillian Levene, assisted by Ewan Maynes and David Crawford.
