A message from Form 4
Paul Faggion and Kathryn O’Brien would like to extend a big thank you to parents of Forms 4F and 4O boys for their continued support throughout the first term. Many thanks to the grade and form representatives who put so much time and effort into organizing Form 4 events.
We wrapped up our “Early Societies” inquiry unit with a recent trip to the Royal Ontario Museum. The boys really enjoyed seeing the artifacts firsthand, and they had many connections to make between what they saw at the museum and what we’ve learned in class. Many thanks to the parents who volunteered their help on the trip.
We’re beginning our next unit of inquiry: “Action, Attraction, Reaction.” This unit is science-based with a focus on the states of matter and physical and chemical changes. We’ll spend time in the lab doing experiments and exploring procedural writing. We’ve already begun reading science fiction books in language as part of this unit. It will continue after the winter break.
In math, our next unit explores multi-digit multiplication. We’ll demonstrate different ways to solve multi-digit multiplication problems and the boys can select a method that they practise for mastery of the concept. Continued focus on reviewing basic math facts at home will help boys accurately solve the questions.
We hope you all have a relaxing and enjoyable holiday season with family and friends. We’re looking forward to seeing everyone on Tuesday, Jan. 7.
Please remember that Form 4F students go directly to Norval in the new year. Form 4O will head to Norval on Tuesday, Jan. 19. Permission forms, medical forms and packing lists will be sent to you electronically.
