Message from Sam McKinney

Sam photo 2Over the past 10 days I have communicated with our community on two occasions regarding an incident involving boys in the Prep. With regard to this incident, and at all times, racial, ethnic or gender vilification or slurs are not tolerated at UCC.

We have been asked why the specifics of our investigation and the resultant sanctions have not been shared publicly. We believe that the processes of investigation, evaluation, consultation and adjudication are most appropriately confidential. However, I can assure you that the processes were comprehensive. We have specified that the sanction involves reconciliation activities that we believe will facilitate the necessary healing, increased knowledge, understanding and growth our community requires. Please read Naheed Bardai’s article in the Middle Division section of this week’s Heads Up for further insight into our reconciliation process.
