Each year after the November long weekend, all boys at the Upper School are professionally photographed by Cangrad Studios while wearing first dress. The photos are used to update those currently in the database and families may purchase prints. Year 8 boys will be photographed on Tuesday, Nov. 14 and Year 9 boys on Monday, Nov. 20. Please watch for reminders closer to these dates.

Student-led conferences (formerly known as parent-teacher interviews) are scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 2 and Friday, Nov. 3. See detailed instructions in Heads Up on how to make individual appointments. All Intermediate Divison boys will be working with their advisers, preparing to lead these meetings by speaking about their academic experiences to date.

National Take Your Child To Work Day for Year 9 boys is on Wednesday, Nov. 1. If you’re planning to have your son take part in this day, please be sure to email Nancy Pyle so it can be recorded in our system. Please see the piece in the Intermediate Division section of Heads Up for more details.

Warm weather dress ends on Wednesday, Nov. 8. Regular dress replaces warm weather dress until the end of the winter term, with the exception of first dress days.

First dress days begin on the first day back after the November long weekend on Nov. 14 and on each first day of the week until the end of the winter term. Special first dress days will be communicated in a timely manner. On the first dress days we’ve had so far, several boys have either forgotten or weren’t wearing all components of first dress. In particular, deck shoes and khakis must be replaced with dark polishable leather dress shoes and grey flannels. For complete details on requirements of the school’s dress code, please see pages 100 to 104 of the Upper School Family Handbook.

The annual Year 8 “Blue and White” football game will take place on Monday, Oct. 30 from 3 to 4 p.m. on the Oval. All Year 8 boys will be accompanied by their period four teachers at 3 p.m. to come out and support their peers in their “Grey Cup” season finale. Dismissal is at 3:30 p.m. Parents are most welcome to attend.

All school teams will be vying for playoff positions in the hopes of capturing championship titles in their sport. Please ask your sons about teams you wish to support and come on out. The coaches and athletes alike would appreciate your loud presence and encouragement. Go Blues!
