Human development and sexual health unit

The boys in Form 6 have just begun their human development and sexual health unit in health and life skills. Topics to be discussed will include: a review of the physical, emotional and social changes that may occur in puberty; how we can demonstrate respect for oneself and others to help build healthy relationships; and factors that can affect the development of a person’s self-concept including the effects of stereotypes.

As part of this unit, Anne Creighton, president of Toronto’s Parents, Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays (PFLAG) will be speaking with the Form 6 classes on Tuesday, May 30. The main focus of her talk will be developing understanding and being an ally to those are subject to stereotyping and discrimination, with an emphasis on the LGBTQ community.
